Introduction:
An excellent opportunity has become available for a full time Quality Engineer to join a high growth, progressive market leader group in the design, manufacture and construction of controlled environments for electric vehicle battery manufacturing facilities.
The ideal candidate will be accountable for verification of construction activities, including related products and services that meet or exceed quality standards and regulatory requirements. They will assess and analyse processes, identify areas for improvement and implement quality assurance measures for the continual improvement of the quality management systems. The Quality Engineer will collaborate closely with various departments to enhance product/service quality to achieve project deliverables.
This role will be based in South Shields, UK, with minor travel required from time to time. This role offers a highly competitive salary, expenses, and 25 days annual leave.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of the project specific QMS, with preparation of plans and procedures, including associated documentation necessary to facilitate the works.
- Review and evaluate sub-contractors and suppliers QMS documentation for compliance to the project’s stated quality requirements.
- Must be experienced in undertaking onsite front end inspection activities and generate related inspection reports.
- Tracking and analysis of non-conformities, and be able to undertake root cause analysis (RCA)
- Assist in the pre-qualification and technical evaluation of Sub-contractors and supplier submittals.
- Liaising with sub-contractors and suppliers on all QA/QC related activities.
Quality Management Systems
To assist the Quality Manager in all aspects of QA/QC activities during the EPC phases of the project with input into the development and maintenance of the quality management system in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Quality Audits
The candidate should preferably be a certified IRCA Auditor to ISO 9001:2015 standard and will be required to undertake regular first part and second party audits to ISO 19011:2018 requirements in accordance with the agreed project audit programme.
Process Evaluation
To be able to collate pre-defined statistical data for analysis / trending and evaluation of the processes to identify areas for continual improvement of the project’s quality management system.
Quality Training
The Quality Engineer will be expected to assist in the development and implementation of a quality awareness programme and training to ensure that all project personnel are fully aware of quality requirements. Provide guidance to the cross-functional teams on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
Quality Reporting
Preparation of weekly quality reports, including quality metrics for submission to the quality manager for subsequent generation of project reports for senior management’s review.
Quality Culture Promotion
All quality team members are required to promote a positive culture of quality consciousness and continuous improvement throughout the organisation.
Requirements:
- Experience working within the mechanical construction industry.
- Experience working directly within a related quality management role.
- Educated to H.N.D. standard ideally with inspection experience.
- Experience in clean room / drying room design and build preferred.
- Extensive experience in preparing QMS documentation, including the review and input into contractors and suppliers document submittals.
- Experienced QMS auditor preferably certified to ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
