Introduction:
An excellent opportunity has become available for a full time Technical Manager to join a high growth, progressive market leader group in the design, manufacture and construction of controlled environments for electric vehicle battery manufacturing facilities.
The ideal candidate will be accountable for the technical design and product performance of the company within the battery and semi-conductor industries, provide technical leadership and support to ensure technical outputs meet the requirements of the company scope, as well as meeting organisational affordability. They will also ensure compliance to company policies and procedures and achieve top customer satisfaction through professionalism, trust and good account management, as well as manage a full technical team across various continents to ensure that excellence in industry standard and local code compliance is achieved.
This role will be based in Kilkenny, Ireland or South Shields, UK, with minor travel required from time to time. This role offers a highly competitive salary, expenses, and 25 days annual leave.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance to company rules and procedures
- Consistently achieve top customer satisfaction through professionalism, trust and good account management
- Plan and deliver all technical aspects of the programme and projects, working with relevant parties to assist in the formation of a design strategy, and ensure that this is adhered to
- Work with various department heads to agree technical resources required and forecast and manage resource costs throughout the project
- Where utilised, ensure external design works are undertaken by suitably qualified and experienced teams
- Work with relevant parties to monitor and report on technical progress on all required deliverables
- Track all scope changes and ensure that technical query processes are adhered to and communicated fully on all projects
- Attend project meetings and where and when required, lead design team meetings
- Assess the potential risks of specific projects, and undertake risk management in specialist roles
- Drive excellence in Health & Safety in design, ensuring a culture of safer design by eliminating hazards and risks wherever possible
- Ensure pre-construction information and design risk assessments are completed and are compliant and detail residual risks and issues
- Recruit and manage personnel
- Sign off on payments, personnel expenses, tenders, Tier 1 suppliers, subcontractors & service providers
- Manage and execute tender submission from a technical perspective
- Develop products and investigate new supply chain partners that are industry specific
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent
- 10+ Years’ experience in a related design and/or management role
- Effective leadership and people management skills
- Good team worker but able to exercise own judgment and work independently to make decisions
- Experience in managing stakeholders
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate and integrate into a wider team
- Ability to manage, motivate and inspire a team, and experience of mentoring and developing staff
- Excellent prioritisation and planning skills
- Understanding of a multi-faceted business operation
- Ability to be proactive and to foresee events and react appropriately towards them
- Complex problem-solving ability
- Desire to strive for personal development
- Knowledge of FM and UL compliance
- Basic knowledge of MEP systems within controlled environments
- Knowledge of EU, UK and US cleanroom local code compliance, fire certificate compliance, ISO classification and GMP industry best practices
